Bobotov Kuk (2,523 m) is the ultimate hiking challenge in Durmitor National Park and one of the most iconic summit climbs in Montenegro. As the highest peak of Durmitor, it offers an unforgettable experience for hikers who want to reach the “roof” of this UNESCO-protected mountain region. This tour combines dramatic landscapes, alpine ridges, and some of the most impressive viewpoints in northern Montenegro.
The hike starts from Sedlo (1,907 m), the highest road pass in Montenegro. The first part of the trail leads through wide open pastures with constant panoramic views of Durmitor’s rocky giants rising on all sides. As you gain altitude, the scenery becomes more rugged and wild, with sharp ridgelines and a true high-alpine atmosphere.
Reaching the summit of Bobotov Kuk feels like standing on a natural throne above Durmitor. Its rocky pyramid dominates the central part of the mountain range and offers breathtaking views in every direction — from deep valleys and alpine plateaus to distant peaks stretching across the horizon. Along the route, you will also pass key viewpoints and landmarks such as Uvita Greda, Zeleni Vir (2,070 m), and the stunning Škrčka Valley, home to the famous Big and Small Škrčka Lakes. These glacial lakes, often called Durmitor’s “mountain eyes”, are among the highest and most remote lakes in the park and are known for their unique green-blue color. After the hike, we return back to the starting point at Sedlo.
