General info

For over two thousand years, people in the coastal region of Montenegro have produced some of the finest olive oils in the world. Driven by a passion for tradition and excellence, olive oil production has been passed down from generation to generation, shaping a way of life that is deeply connected to the land, the climate, and the Mediterranean spirit.

Only 3 km from the center of Bar, in the peaceful area of small Kuril, you will visit the olive grove of the Novaković family, home to more than 80 olive trees. Their family tradition has been proudly preserved for almost two centuries (since 1861) and continues today with the same dedication and respect for nature. Walking through the grove, you will experience the authentic atmosphere of Montenegro’s olive-growing heritage and learn how olive oil has remained one of the most important symbols of local culture and hospitality.

In addition to the Novaković grove, little Kurilo is filled with many other ancient olive trees owned by the Novaković Brotherhood, stretching across the entire area and creating a unique landscape of silver-green branches and stone terraces. This region is especially famous for the autochthonous olive variety known as “Barska žutica”, often called “The Queen of Olives” for its exceptional quality and rich, aromatic flavor. It is exactly this treasured variety that inspired the name of this family business and makes the experience truly special for every visitor.
